Pre-test Room Equipment
<b>Auto-Refractor/Keratometer</b> Estimates the current prescription of your eye and cornea curvature. Assists in detecting and measuring nearsightedness and farsightedness.<br><br><i>It helps to ensure you have the most accurate prescription possible.</i> <b>Auto-Lensometer</b> Measures the prescription of your current eyeglasses so it can be compared with current examination results.<br><br><i>By knowing the prescription in your current glasses, we will know whether your glasses need to be updated. This will ensure you have the best possible vision.</i> <b>Non-contact Tonometer</b> Provides a puff of air to measure internal pressure of the eye. Also aids in the early detection of glaucoma.<br><br><i>Regular glaucoma testing can aid in early detection and most effective treatment.</i>
<b>Visual Field Analyzer</b> Used to measure field of vision to help detect disease of the eye or vision loss related to a medical condition.<br><br><i>It is used in diagnosing a number of different eye and body-related illnesses.</i> <strong>Optomap® </strong><br />Family Vision Centre is proud to offer their clients the most modern eye exam available with the Optomap Retinal Exam, a comprehensive method of evaluating, monitoring, and helping treat a variety of eye conditions. This previously unavailable technology assists your doctor in viewing the retina to detect early signs of eye disease as well as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and cancer.An Optomap examination is fast, painless and comfortable for all patients. A medical imaging device used to give high resolution three-dimensional images of the macula and optic nerve which allows earlier detection of macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma.</i>
Examination Room Equipment
<b>Phoropter</b> Uses lens combinations to most accurately evaluate visual acuity and determine the final eyeglass or contact lens prescription.<br><br><i>This provides the client  with the confidence that their prescription is as accurate as possible.</i> <strong>Slit Lamp</strong> (Biomicroscope) Used to evaluate the health of the surface of corneas and eyelids, using a microscopic illumination.<br><br><i>It can be used to assess general eye health and the fit of contact lenses to ensure years of successful lens wear.</i> <strong>Eye Chart</strong> Used to accurately determine and measure visual acuity. Eye chart examinations are available for patients off all ages and demographics.<br /><br />
