Family Vision Centre provides a wide range of services beginning with complete eye health examinations for the entire family.

We are pleased to offer our clients the most current optometry technology including the OptomapĀ® Retinal Exam, a quick and comfortable method of evaluating, monitoring and helping to treat various eye conditions.

Optometry Services
  • Complete eye health examinations for all ages
  • Ocular disease co-management for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration
  • Retina assessment with Optomap digital camera
  • Laser surgery co-management
  • Visual field testing
  • Low vision assessments and aides available
  • Occupational screening (aviation, police services, trades, etc.)
  • Urgent care for eye injuries, infections and contact lens problems

Our Optometrists

Dr. Jayne Toombs

Dr. Jayne Toombs received her BSc Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax and then completed a dietetic internship program at the Vancouver General Hospital. In 1989 she graduated from College of Technology, Glasgow Caledonia University with her degree in optometry. She joined Family Vision Centre in 1989 and became a partner in 1991. She enjoys practicing full scope optometry.

Dr. Janalee Canfield

Dr. Janalee Canfield is an alumnus of the University of Prince Edward Island and received her Doctorate in Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. She joined Family Vision Centre in 1997, where she maintains a busy practice and enjoys seeing patients of all ages.

Dr. Rhod MacCorquodale

Dr. Rhod MacCorquodale grduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 1992. He practiced in Regina, Saskatchewan until the spring of 2005 when he relocated to PEI and joined Family Vision Centre in Charlottetown. Dr. MacCorquodale enjoys all aspects of primary care optometry and has a special interest in refractive surgery and the treatment and management of ocular disease.

Dr. Catherine Arsenault

Dr. Catherine Arsenault received her BSc at Mount Allison University, then graduated from the Optometry School at the University of Waterloo in 1994. She practiced in Grande Prairie, Alberta from 1994-1999 and then moved back home to Prince Edward Island. She has been practicing since and particularly enjoys examining children’s eyes. Dr. Arsenault offers eye examinations in both French and English.
